Best Breakfast in Kozhikode at 1980’s A Nostalgic Restaurant

Located in the heart of Kozhikode, the small industrial-looking entrance to 1980’s Restaurant opens into the elegant interiors inspired by a traditional Kerala house with a beautiful central courtyard and massive dining space – complimented with lip smacking Malabari cuisine of breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The 1st branch of the 1980’s A Nostalgic Restaurant started 8 years ago on the Kalpetta Bypass Road becoming an instant-hit with the highway travellers, while the Kozhikode Restaurant started recently in 2022.

The 1980’s Restaurant in Kozhikode town offers a laid back, traditional dining experience with comfortable seating for big groups, nostalgic 1980’s Malayalam music accentuated by delicious Kerala food. ❤️

Must Eat:

We loved the supremely delicious fare of Kerala breakfast:

  • Idiyappam: steam-cooked rice-flour based noodles
  • Kadala Curry: delicious, spiced black chickpeas curry made with coconut milk, onions and spices
  • Nei Pathal: deep-fried rice pancake, a tasty Malabar specialty
  • Chicken Roast: semi-gravy chicken curry that tastes best with Nei Pathal & Iddiyappam
  • Kannuvecha Pathiri: similar to a puri, this is a deep fried wheat flour based flat bread breakfast staple in Kozhikode
  • Lime Tea: best lime tea in Calicut aka Kozhikode 🤤
